I took the kid to San Francisco for the weekend. We saw the city. I took him to Maker Faire. It was fabulous. (Here's my official "storify.") I could have spent weeks with him there, showing him the sites and the ropes, helping him meet folks and make connections.
And now he says that maybe he'll move there. So maybe I'll have the chance to do just that.
In other news, I attended a conference at Fort Mason. And I want to make this perfectly clear: if you expect us to travel places to meet face-to-face, don't get me wrong: the face-to-face is awesome. But "space" is important. It dictates in ways that we're not always aware of, what that face-to-face entails. (e.g. lectures and keynotes) Thanks to the folks at O'Reilly Media and the SLC for holding an event at a beautiful and interesting location.
