After a month of going nowhere, we piled into a car and headed to California. I had two conferences to attend in San Diego and one in San Francisco. We drove (partially because road trips are fun and partially because airline travel is expensive). I hadn't need to San Diego in over a decade, so there were lots of new places to see there. And even in San Francisco, which I'm finding more and more dull and draining, we were able to find a new restaurant to check out... [...]

San Francisco, May 19 - 23
I took Isaiah to San Francisco for the weekend. Maker Faire. His first trip to the Bay Area. What a great time, we had. And now he's considering moving there. (I hope he does.) [...]

Victoria, May 2 - 3

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Vancouver, take the ferry over to Victoria. That's what Kin and I did -- just an overnight getaway as part of our return trip south. We ferried to Victoria (and from there the next evening to Seattle). It poured rain the whole time we were in Victoria, but the trip there was beautiful. And the whole thing -- the getting back to Eugene part -- was definitely an adventure. [...]
